#TIDAL HIFI VS SPOTIFY UPGRADE#
This will give the upper hand to Spotify Premium subscribers to upgrade their membership and get quite high quality with lossless streams. In fact, its entry into CD-quality streaming has long been anticipated. That was the essence behind Spotify HiFi. I'm actually still on the higher tier plan but I might downgrade to the CD-quality Hifi."Does Spotify have HiFi audio?" Good music is like music to the soul, especially if it's hi-res. Tidal also has other features like exclusive mode that are more likely to actually make an audible difference. But this has nothing to do with the encoding whether that be Hi-Res, Lossless, MQA or Spotify's Ogg Vorbis. Many albums are reissued with a remaster or even a complete remix, and sometimes the version Tidal has on "Master" is actually different than the version on Spotify, and I can clearly hear the difference. Stuff that is marked "Hifi" in Tidal (more common with older stuff) should be actually lossless original FLACĪnother factor that can make a difference, is the actual issue of an album. Note though that the MQA encoding being served as Hifi only happens with tracks that are "Masters" which is around a third of them, although growing. Which is one of the reasons the whole MQA debacle annoys me, it messes with my whole reason for wanting lossless in the first place. I can't.Īt the same time, I do use Tidal, because then there's no second guessing myself as to whether I can hear something, it's just the original lossless. Many people saying they can hear a difference I suspect it's probably placebo though and they wouldn't pass a blind test. Tidal Hifi is technically "better", more data than Spotify.
#TIDAL HIFI VS SPOTIFY PLUS#
I still use Tidal (but not only) because it's the interface that I prefer mainly, but I'm all in favor that, first, they bring back all standard FLAC in the Hifi setting, even if they leave MQA on the Master setting for Hifi Plus offer. The standard 16/44.1 FLAC should be available for all tracks the technology could bring something (and not sure) if it was used correctly, but they are not even using it like they describe it in their marketing material. I've always be clear enough on the subject of MQA, that it's not what was created mainly because it's not used during the creation process, that there are lies in marketing of MQA and even Tidal.

I don't know why you answered each time thinking of that. The only thing I said that was better is FLAC is better than AAC, and that there standard FLAC in Tidal, but sadly not for all tracks since some months agoīy correcting an wrong generalization, I'm not promoting unprocessed MQA ) And again, you were misinterpreting what I said : "which is a bit different." doesn't means "which is a bit better"
